UDCA treatment results in reduced sMet serum levels and relative liver weight in a mouse model of acute cholestasis. (A) Schematic representation of a model of BDL-induced acute cholestasis. Acute cholestasis was induced in C57BL/6NCrl mice by common bile duct ligation (for details see Materials and Methods). Serum and the whole liver were collected from sham-operated animals treated with vehicle only (SHAM), sham-operated animals treated with UDCA (SHAM UDCA), animals with ligated bile ducts treated with vehicle only (BDL), and animals with ligated bile ducts treated with UDCA (BDL UDCA). Serum levels of ALP (B), TNFα (D) and sMet (E) were assessed as described in the text. (C) Relative liver weight was calculated as the ratio of liver weight to body weight (100%).
