  1. Macrophages and dendritic cells were determined by indirect immunofluorescence on the small intestine tissue slides of mice from different experimental groups (well-nourished control (WC), malnourished control (MC), and re-nourished with milk, probiotic fermented milk (PFM) or bacterial free supernatant (BFS)).
  2. Results were expressed as number of positive cells recognized for the respective primary antibody, counted in 10 fields of vision at 1000× of magnification.
