ICU mortality stratified by both serum chloride and serum sodium levels. Patients were divided into groups with neither hypochloremia nor hyponatremia, with hyponatremia alone, with hypochloremia alone, and with hypochloremia combined with hyponatremia, which were significantly different (p < 0.001). Pairwise comparisons with adjustment for multiple comparisons demonstrated significant differences between patients with hypochloremia combined with hyponatremia (36.6%) vs. patients with neither hypochloremia nor hyponatremia (16.1%) (p < 0.001) and between patients with hypochloremia combined with hyponatremia (36.6%) vs. patients with hyponatremia alone (14.6%) (p < 0.001)
