Overall mortality in the competing risk model (liver transplant as the competing risk) stratified by comorbidity burden using the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) (excluding liver disease and liver cancer). The analysis was adjusted for age, gender, race, model for endstage liver disease with sodium modification, body mass index, liver disease etiology and presence of hepatocellular carcinoma. The sub-hazard ratio for each 1-point increment in CCI was 1.24 (95%confidence interval 1.1–1.4)
