Favourable viral outcomes:

 Fully suppressed

HBV DNA undetectable for study period

OR

HBV DNA became undetectable with no further rise

 Adequate viral suppression

Where treatment duration was < 2 years, HBV DNA decreased > 1 log10

Unfavourable viral outcomes:

 Not suppressed

Detectable HBV DNA after 2 years on treatment

 Non-transient rise

< 1 log rise in HBV DNA which was not a transient rise

 Viral breakthrough

≥1x log10 rise in HBV DNA level from nadir which was not a transient rise

 Transient rise

a single instance of increased DNA level < 150 IU/ML with return to undetectable at next test
