Comparison of medians of different continuous variables revealed that the following were all associated with a higher risk of mortality: A raised WBC, serum creatinine, serum BUN, serum ALT, serum AST, serum total bilirubin, prothrombin time and INR and reduced oxygen saturation on admission (p < 0.05).
