The dose–response curves characterized by penalized splines in the Cox model depict a significantly increasing trend; that is, increases in HBsAg levels are associated with increased risks of virological (P = 0.00017) and clinical (P = 0.012) relapses.Overall, no obvious nonlinearity was observed in the dose–response relationship, supporting the use of a linear term in the Cox model to summarize the hazard ratio for one log increase of HBsAg level
