Western blotting was performed to detect (a) phosphorylation levels of JNK in three segments of small intestine, (b) the kinetic profile of JNK phosphorylation in IEC-6 cell line in response to hyperthermia. In vivo, heat stress significantly increased JNK phosphorylation compared to the control groups. In vitro, JNK phosphorylation was maximum at 4 h and reversible by the addition of JNK inhibitor. Data are mean ± S.E., n = 6 per treatment. *p < 0.05, compared to control group, **p < 0.01, compared to control group.
