Liver function. Box-and-whisker plots showing functional liver parameters revealed severe side effects of gelatine infusion. Glucose level was significantly reduced compared to all other groups. Albumin was decreased in all septic animals, but Gel showed the lowest level compared to all other groups. Kolloids showed significant increased lactate levels and Gel revealed the highest level. Parameters were determined at the end of the experiment. The boxes represent the 25th to 75th percentiles, and horizontal lines within the box represent median values. The whiskers represent the lowest and highest value in the 25th percentile minus 1.5IQR and 75th percentile plus 1.5IQR regions; * vs. sham; § vs. NaCl, RA and HES; p < 0.05. n = 10-12 per group.
